As an implementation contractor on the HPWH Program, D+R International is growing its team and currently seeking to fill the following role:

Account Manager

D+R International has a new opportunity for an Account Manager to support our team in implementing the HPWH Program through the wholesale supply channel. This position will be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with manufacturers, manufacturer rep agencies, distributors, and installers of heat pump water heaters in Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho. Specifically, this position will use a consultative sales approach to recruit and encourage market actors to implement elements of the client’s supply channel development strategy. The Account Manager will also collect sales data from market actors and attend meetings with the client and other program contractors as needed.

Reports to: D+R Project Manager

Location: Pacific Northwest, with preference for Portland, OR

Start date: March/April 2017

Duration: Long-term

Essential duties & responsibilities:

·         Build and maintain productive business relationships with market actors in the northwest (Oregon, Washington, Montana and Idaho) using a consultative sales method.

·         Conduct outreach, organize meetings, and make presentations to market actors.

·         Communicate strategically with potential market actors about the benefits of participating in the HPWH Program.

·         Obtain commitments from market actors to participate in the program and contribute to meeting HPWH sales goals.

·         Identify and understand market actor needs, barriers, and objectives and develop strategies and value propositions from that information that will motivate market actors to take appropriate action.

·         Maintain records and communicate outcomes of meetings with market actors.

·         Monitor developments in the water heater market, including federal and local codes and standards and heat pump water heater technology.

·         Coordinate with D+R team, clients, and other program contractors.

·         Travel to meetings with market actors in the northwest (up to 50% travel, with occasional overnight travel; requires a reliable personal vehicle).

·         Prepare bulletins and newsletters to distribute to the supply channel.

·         Collect and process sales data from participating distributors.

·         Prepare monthly and quarterly reports per client requirements.

 

Preferred knowledge, skills, qualifications, and abilities:

·         Bachelor’s degree in business, and one to three years’ experience utilizing a consultative customer management approach in a business-to-business sales or professional services field, or a combination of education, experience in a related field, and demonstrated comparable knowledge and skills.  Experience in energy-related business a plus.

·         Demonstrated ability to obtain client commitments and bring projects to closure.

·         Conversant in business finance options and strategies and capable of clearly articulating the options.

·         Strong interpersonal skills, including effectiveness in persuasive communication and a high degree of professionalism, maturity, and a polished demeanor.

·         Exemplary written and oral communication skills.

·         Proficiency with contact management, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

·         Ability to handle competing priorities and proven ability to be organized, detail oriented, and accurate.

·         Familiarity with the features and benefits of energy-efficient technologies and the ability to perform technical analysis; some knowledge of heat pump water heater systems is preferred.
